My waterproof concrete for floors and walls are different.

Pumpable concrete has extra sand

Waterproof concrete also has extra cement, less water to cement ratio, and powerful plasticiser. This is best for walls.

Waterproof floor concrete has twice the powerful plasticiser. It is much better for floors.

This is what to expect from waterproof concrete without plasticiser. Misery. Even more miserable if it won't pump.

This costs the price of the concrete only, but also you must add the cost of 5 more people working hard to spread and compact it.

This is what to expect from waterproof concrete with plasticiser. Ideal for walls because it flows under vibration.

But still stiff enough that you don't lose much cement paste through thin gaps between boards when the vibrator follows.

This costs the price of the concrete plus £39 per cubic metre treated for the powerful plasticiser. Only 2 people working hard. Another sorting out the electric cable as the team move round.

This is what to expect from waterproof concrete with double the dose of powerful plasticiser. Ideal for floors because it flows to almost level all on its own. The edges are flat and level, ready for wall formwork. You need 2 people, not 6 or 7.

Note the slab levelling system, the rods cut to top of concrete level, as a useful guide still visible down the right side.

This costs the price of the concrete plus £69, per cubic metre treated, for double the dose of the powerful plasticiser.

No one working hard.

Self compacting waterproof concrete.

This slab would have been easier with a 32m pump, not the 24m pump there on the day.

I strongly recommend you have the double dose in your floor slabs.

Otherwise your floor will be very rough and uneven because, if you are raking the concrete to get it level, you won't have the time before it begins to set.

It basically gives you the same benefit as adding loads of water - which is what labourers always do, given the chance - without the cracking, weakness, and porosity of over-wet concrete.

If the floor isn't flat and level you will be walking through puddles while you build the walls.
